the power of mills & boon.

Today I came to terms with the fact I’m going home. And it was brought on by the funniest thing. What may you ask? A mills and boon romance novel :P

It’s weird. Because for most of the year I’d wanted to go home for numerous reasons; and now for the last few weeks I’ve been scared, nervous and not looking forward to leaving. Why? Because I don’t know what I’m going to be when I’m in Australia (or what Australia is going to be to me). All this year I’ve been struggling to find myself in Sweden and now, that I have finally found a place here, I must leave again.

But let me explain about the novel. I received a lovely Christmas present for Jessica and in it where four of these books. And it took me back to when I first came over; on the plane, reading one of these same books (I’d picked them up in the Airport book shop). And It just made me think how things have come full circle. Snow is on the ground (just like when I came) and I’ll soon be back at Cicci & Gunners. Just like in the beginning. So what started will come to an end and something new will begin. I think I’m ready.

What a wonderful day! It began at 8:00 with my last sports class for the year (Badminton). I then caught the 10:30 bus to Eskilstuna.  I’d been invited to eat with one of the Rotary clubs; a previous host mum is president of that club, and as we haven’t seen each other in a while, it seemed like a good chance to catch up.

I met with Brenton at the Red Cross shop at 11:15- he was in search of a suit. A few clothing changes later and I ended up being the one leaving with a purchase (see photos below). The lunch was enjoyable, even though I got put on the spot a few times with my Swedish. Best part was when I got to draw the raffle winner and by accident picked Brenton’s number (the prize was a whiskey cake). Who said that exchange students don’t look out for each other?

Next was a stop to Myrona, then H&M where I had a good time browsing. I was looking for one special top, but when they didn’t have it in my size; I found a beautiful skirt instead. And what’s better, when we noticed one of the buttons missing on the skirt, I got 50kr off! (It can with a spare button so with a little sewing, it’ll be good as new. Seeing as I’d had my shopping time, we visited some more ‘male’ friendly stores. After dragging Brenton away from some ice shot glass moulds, we went to the tourist bureau for a birthday gift for Sofi. Next was a trip to Systembolaget (with Brenton’s host mum) for 10 bottles of Jacob Creek white (not for us, gifts for teachers!).

Fika was taken at Cafe Sylvia were Sofi received her gift and introduced us too two of her Swedish friends. Good conversation, Good coffee and an AMAZING chocolate ball, ensure for a pleasant time before I jumped on the bus home. One super hot bath later and I’m writing on my blog. What more could one ask from a day with friends?

Now I understand what all the fuss is about. Its well into the 3rd season, but I’m just a new recruit to the world of Gossip Girl. And I’m head over heels!!! The glamour and goss, the beauty and boldness. It’s like the Sex and the City for a new generation.

Besides from hopelessly wishing my life was half as glamorous but not nearly as dramatic, the series includes some great (though occasionally clique) plotlines. And not to mention fantastic fashion. So if you haven’t checked it out, look now! And if you’re already a fan, then you have great taste. I’m thinking about blogging out the greatest fashion moments from the first season, so keep tune if your interested in that.

Okay, confession time. This might seem weird but when I was younger there was this one music film clip which I saw and it literally had such a massive effect on me. It was so surreal and I can remember more than once having crazy assed dreams about it. And years later I still think about it so I decided to look it up; and please don’t laugh about the band it comes from. And I’ll think you’ll agree with me, that the video is way tripped; and also that the girl in it kind of looks like a guy… or maybe it is a guy?
